Unscheduled Break.

Wow, it's been a while since I last posted. Sorry about that.

I've been a pretty busy guy the last few weeks. The previous two weeks I was doing On the Job Training on the night shift, and this week and the next will be spent on the local gun club shooting various pistols and (gasp!) assault rifles.

I really wish I had some cool stories to share, but that well has been pretty dry lately. I do have a couple of things on my mind though:

Them Duke Boys. Not these guys, but these guys. Let me get all the obligatory stuff out the way first. No woman should be raped ever, under any circumstances. Something just smells fishy about this whole situation to me. I have no idea if this girl got raped or not but it seems that one of the players has a pretty good alibi. I know it's early though. My initial feeling is that this "victim" lacks credibility.

On local radio I constantly hear ads by WCASA (Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault). The ads feature both male and female teenagers, and the basic premise for the ads is that it doesn't matter what a girl says, does, has done in the past, or how she is dressed. If she says no, it means no. It's a great message to spread to our youngsters, no doubt about that. It's hard for me to explain, but the way I feel when I hear the ads is that they want you to treat men as rapists until they prove themselves otherwise. The ads feel like a complete guilt trip, and I hate them for it. I know it doesn't matter how a woman is dressed, acts, talks, or what their previous history is. But how hard would it be to put out a positive ad that does hold women accountable for things they do control. I'd love to see an ad that says "Hey ladies, if you don't want men to treat you like a slut, then don't dress like one". That would completely make my day.

Ugh. Enough about rape. I was pretty happy when the baseball season started. My Tigers jumped out of the gate. They've since come back to reality and currently sitting with a record of 7-7. I know there are still 148 games left, but they will disappoint me again.

I've seen some pretty neat links on other people's websites and blogs that deserve to be pointed out. Hopefully I'll get a post up by the end of the week.

Only 2 weeks left for me featured blog. He's shutting it down at the end of the month, for reasons unknown. I just hope it's because he wants to and not because of pressure from anyone.

That's all I've got for today.
