It only took a couple of weeks
After the death of Pope John Paul II, it seems you couldn't find a bad word written about him, the Catholic Church, or the Cardinals. Well, it appears it only took a couple of weeks and now the media is poised to start piling on, with Knight-Ridder batting leadoff with a story titled "Vatican history reveals bloody, corrupt battles for church power".
The history of the conclave is something that I've found pretty interesting, and I've wanted to read more stories like that one, but it's been hard to find good material since the Pope died. If you google it, you mostly get stories about John Paul's health, death, and the child molestation scandals. I might have to take a trip to the local bookstore to see if I can find anything.
